THE PURSUIT OF LOVE

Far outside an ancient place, she staggers;
her threadbare cloak clutched against cruel
winds, wicked and wild

Weekly, she struggles to get to a prison
Goods, smuggled deep in pockets
hidden in the folds of her ragged skirt

Become as furtive and fugitive
as her beloved housed there
she ferrets bits of cash
to slip to him as well

She views him through  a rosy lens
Lets dear Venus guide her home
